Earnhardt Focuses on Momentum for Phoenix

Jeffrey Earnhardt will be making his Phoenix International Raceway debut this Friday night for the Lucas Oil 150 on a ton of momentum. The 4th generation Earnhardt grabbed his career high during an emotional weekend at Daytona in the Fuel Doctor USA Chevy with a 7th place finish.

The top-ten finish put Earnhardt near the top of the point standings in third as well as second in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year standings.

“Jeffrey has done all the right things during the off season preparing himself for this 2011 season, and it is yielding solid results already,” stated Dave Mitchell, Vice President of Rick Ware Racing. “Phoenix is his kind of track and with momentum on his side, we are looking for another strong finish for the Fuel Doctor USA team and Jeffrey. Earnhardt grew up racing on short tracks similar to Phoenix and crew chief Joe Lax is no stranger to victory lane either. That combination along with momentum can bring a solid weekend for all,” stated Mitchell.

Earnhardt Battles Flu and Tough Truck Conditions Before Capturing Top-20 Finish

Jeffrey Earnhardt continued to impress this past weekend at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) for the running of the Lucas Oil 150 on Friday night under tough circumstances. The 4th generation Earnhardt battled the flu all week and was still under the weather when he strapped in for qualifying for the event after spending most of his Phoenix trip in and out of the infield care center at PIR.

Earnhardt qualified the #1 Fuel Doctor Platinum Chevy in the 29th position, after several trucks went home not making the 36 truck field. Earnhardt knew that this race was going to be a battle of attrition.

When the green flag dropped for the 150-lap event, Jeffrey worked through a tight condition that unfortunately put him one lap down, before a caution on lap 41 allowed the “Team Green”, Fuel Doctor pit crew to make adjustments. Crew chief Joe Lax requested four tires and fuel with adjustments to the track bar, and as Earnhardt left the pits, he remained in the 32nd position, one lap down.

Jeffrey qualified his #1 Fuel Doctor Platinum Chevy in the 23rd position and knew his truck was going to be great in the draft once the green flag dropped.
